ReQuest (Reuse Questionnaire Data)

Discover, compare and reuse questionnaire survey data in the social sciences and humanities

The ReQuest Question Bank enables users to explore more than 65,000 questions and variables drawn from questionnaire-based quantitative surveys held in the CDSP Data Bank. It enhances the discoverability of data in order to encourage their reuse and serves as a valuable tool for supporting research and the analysis of existing data, as well as the design of new surveys.

The platform is intended for the academic community and for teams involved in the production, documentation or dissemination of survey data. It also supports teaching and promotes participatory and citizen science by facilitating access to and understanding of survey data for a wide range of audiences.

Centralised access to survey variables and questions

ReQuest provides a single point of access for exploring the questionnaire-based quantitative surveys disseminated by the CDSP. These include, for example, the major French pre- and post-election surveys produced by the CEVIPOF, as well as surveys from the ELIPSS panel covering a broad range of topics in the social and political sciences.

Several features have been developed in collaboration with users to support data discovery and reuse, including: Optimised text searching across questions, response categories, variable labels and variable names; Filters based on standardised metadata to refine search results; The ability to compare similar questions from different surveys for longitudinal or comparative analysis; Direct access to datasets and their documentation available through the data.sciencespo.fr repository; An export function for creating customised selections of metadata.
